Mesaba Negotiations update: July 5, 2006
The AMFA negotiating team will return to the
bargaining table with Mesaba management on the afternoon of July 10 at the Pan
Am Training Facility in Eagan,
Minnesota. Mesaba management has contacted the National Mediation Board and a
representative from the board will be in attendance that week. The version
of the Unsecured Creditors Committee position statement that was filed on June
30 was filed in error. This is the version that is on MyMesaba. The amended
version was refiled on July 3. There has been some changes between the two
versions. The first stated that the UCC supported managements motion. The second
version amended the UCC's position statement to make clear that the committee
supports Mesaba's efforts to reduce costs, but does not necessarily support
granting the motion. The UCC also takes no position on whether Mesaba has
satisfied the legal elements necessary to approve granting the motion. I
have contacted resources in both IA and WI to assist with the possible furloughs
in DSM and CWA. I have asked Guy Miller in CWA and Harold Petro in DSM to
assist. I am now looking for the best time for the state agencies in the area to
come to the stations and help with any questions and concerns.
